In order to establish a web presence that reflects a positive image and reputation of King Saud University and its educational and research activities, the University has initiated the KSU portal project. This online portal, enhanced with state of the art technology, provides the KSU community with an enriching experience.

The portal has been designed as a knowledge gateway for faculty, staff, students and visitors from all over the world. Its content is comprised of contributions from all departments, deanships, colleges and staff members. Each college in the University has its own bilingual Web site containing information about its departments, courses, activities, and educational materials, while more than 4600 faculty members update their websites with scholarly publications and course-related materials. Their websites have become a means for sharing their contributions and providing students with a valuable educational experience.

KSU portal initiatives have already led to significant advances. For instance, KSU has taken the lead in live-broadcasting university activities on the Internet. A case in point is the broadcasting of various international conferences hosted by KSU, and such broadcasts provide not only easy access to knowledge and important information, but international interaction among peers.

KSU will continue to make noteworthy advances by enhancing different areas of the portal and expanding innovative services. The portal’s Knowledge Center is continually updated with different materials intended for different audiences ranging from professors, students and non-academics to leading researchers in diverse fields.
