Mechanism for adoption of curriculums and programs:
After reviewing the plans and programs in a number of leading universities, the management adopted the following mechanism to enhance the points of strength and avoids points of weakness as well as to upgrade the outcomes of the plans and academic programs:
- Usually the initiative is set for reviewing the study programs or proposing fresh programs or what is known as new amendments for the flowing reasons:
- A request for reviewing the curriculums from the university or from external bodies.
- New developments in specialization
- Labor market needs
- National development requirements
- Academic accreditation requirements

- The concerned department in coordination with the management shall undertake to arrange a workshop of specialists in curriculums with the participation of members of faculty department and the teaching staff, students and graduates (male and female) as well as the recruitment staff expertise and other relevant bodies.
- The concerned department undertakes the preparation of the curriculums according to the standards of academic accreditation.
- The curriculums shall be approved by the competent councils.
- The study plan shall be submitted to the department of plans and programs for study and approval as per the following procedures:
First: technical review
Secondly: arbitration panel which includes:
- Academic specialists (internal and external referees)
- Public and private sectors.
- Interested bodies and those in connection fopr display on the management website.
Thirdly: collection of views and proposals by arbitrators and submission to the concerned department which undertakes the study of the proposals.
Fourthly: the advisory committees which include as members representatives of the university faculties in the following manner:
- Advisory committee for faculties of humanity.
- Advisory committee for colleges of applied and science.
- Advisory committee for colleges of health.
Fifthly: the curriculums shall be submitted to the standing committee for plans and programs for approval before final approval by the university council.

 In case of minor amendments in certain or specific syllabus which have no major effect, the approval of the amendment by the concerned section and department shall be recommended and then submitted to the vice president of the university for educational and academic affairs before approval by the permanent committee for curriculums and study programs. |
