Page Content  This department is responsible for the main operating system MVS base of the mainframe. It includes applications and a data base serving the different offices in King Saud University. The mainframe unit consists of the Central Processing Unit in addition to supporting units such as backup units, taping unit, main printing units in addition to the network connected to the mainframe.
This department is responsible for:
- Main Operating System MVS base
- Sub-systems for operating and controlling sets such as the tapes library and storing units
- Data backup and maintenance
- Supporting and helping application systems such as databases
- Supporting and helping provide a stable connection for users
- Unix system of Z/OS including:
a.) TCP/IP stake for LAN
b. )HOD access to Z/OS via Internet network
c.) Web sphere: for network application system.
