A Summary of the Achievements

 Of the Medical Studies and Sciences Sections

Female Center

 (1427-1428 H) 

The following briefly reviews the most important scientific achievements and various activities in female center colleges 

First: Academic Activity:

·         56 scientific articles were published in scientific journals.

·         213 researches are ongoing.

·         15 ongoing applied researches were funded by King Abdul Aziz city for sciences and technology (KACST), in addition to 50 researches that were funded by the Research Center in  the Female Center.

·         4093 female students were enrolled in undergraduate programs, 486 in Master programs, and 60 in Ph.D programs.

 As indicated in the following:

These firures are derived from the statistics of the Deanship of Admission and Registration in KSU for the year 1427 – 1428 H.

 12 scientific conferences and seminars were held within the university premises

Faculty and staff attended 47 events  within the kingdom, and 8 abroad

 

Second: Administrative Achievements: 

1.     A website for Medical Studies and Sciences Sections-Female Center has been published.

2.     Female sections have been linked to the parallel colleges in Aldreah Campus through net communication services to participate in councils held and making decision.

3.     Female students center has been linked with the university communication system.

4.     The Central Laboratory has been relocated to the new facility in building (13).

5.     The College of Pharmacy has been relocated in the Medical College campus after completing the maintenance and renovation projects in buildings (1-5-7-9).

6.     Renovation of building (8).

7.     Two glass greenhouses were built to serve Plants and Microbiology department in the college of Sciences on top of the roof of building (4).

8.      Mosques in Females center have been renovate as the follows:

·         A mosque was instituted in building (1) with a capacity of 50 persons.

·         Two mosques were built in building (2) with a capacity of 50 persons.

·         A mosque  was built in building (20) with a capacity of 50 persons.

·         The mosque in the entertainment center was renovated with a capacity of 50 persons.

·         The mosque of building (6) was renovated with a capacity of 150 persons.

9.     The renovation project in building (7) has started.

* The role of Social Specialist office:

  1. To support students and handle social, familial, financial, psychological and behavior problems. Students are referred from faculty commission or directed to social specialist office to be treated and solved.
  2.  To define the role of the social specialist in the meeting held at the beginning of each semester, and distribute brochures to introduce services provided by this office.

Statistics show the number of students that benefited from social supervision office.

Third: Health Care:

  2735 students were examined and treated. Moreover, health care services included 1964 faculty members and 472 employees in the medical studies and sciences sections.. Also health care services were provided to 289 of the children in the kindergarten service of King Saud University departments of science and medical studies.

 

 

Forth: Scientific Equipment and preparations:

 A number of state of the art equipment has been installed in the Central Laboratory:

  1. The Scanning Electron Microscope
  2. Transmission Electron Microscope
  3. Amino Acid Analyzer

 

Fifth: Services Provided to the Community:

    • Services provided by the Central Laboratory: 1014 samples were analyzed for researchers and postgraduate students.
    • Services provided by the Laboratory Animals Care Center: the center has provided all kinds of animals that are needed by the scientific sections either for researches or practical courses with the provision of health care to those animals. In addition, postgraduate students from inside and outside the center were trained on proper sampling procedures as well as other procedures. The number of animals that have been provided in the academic year 1427/1428 was 11810 animals.
    • Pharmaceutical consulting and treatment provided by the Center for Information and Toxicants in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy in the Pharmacy College for Physicians and researchers from both government and private sectors.
    • The Department of Statistics and Operations Research in the Faculty of Science has provided consultations and statistical information by analyzing data to prove the results of scientific and applied researches for the researcher as well as Master and PHD students inside and outside the Center.
    • Supervision of Master and Doctoral theses as well as evaluating and discussing them.
    • Evaluation and arbitration of the researches given by several institutions in the society as well as the scientific journal article reviews for the purpose of promotion or publication.
    • Participation in providing educational lectures in several areas of interest to the community.

 

 

Sixth: Extra-curricular activities:

 The cultural activity in the center delivered several lectures and cultural contests.

  • A competition was held to choose the ideal student within the sciences sections and medical studies and then at the university level.
  • The Social activity included the acquaintance party for the students and the beginning of extra-curricular activities, and the end of extra-curricular activities, in addition to having a number of festivals and celebrations, and paying visits to historical and cultural centers. A number of training courses were offered, as well as participating in awareness weeks on the effect of smoking and drugs, and the rationalization of water use.
  • Some students together with the supervisors paid a number of visits to charity associations and some scientific and historical institutions and specialized hospitals in Riyadh.
