Abstract:


The King Saud University has provided an opportunity of undergraduate and graduate studies for girls since very early, and as a result the University has established libraries for faculty members and students to provide them with library services. The Library of the Center of University Studies was among the first libraries established in 1394 AH (1974) to serve the Arts and Commerce female students. It was then moved to the Center's headquarters in Olayshah in 1396 and it reports to the Deanship of Library Affairs in King Saud University.

Goals:

The Library aims to provide library and information services within the framework of the research and teaching in the university, and it works to achieve this objective through the following functions:

- To lend books and other information sources in the disciplines of the Center's colleges, which are the College of Arts, College of Administrative Sciences, College of Languages and Translation, College of Education and to publicize the various university publications.
- To develop and train the female workers in the field of libraries and information in the city of Riyadh.

- To cooperate with the various libraries and information facilities as well as with relevant scientific institutions.

- To organize training programs for library and information studies in universities and institutes of Riyadh city.

- To participate in conferences and symposia related to libraries and information affairs.

- To serve the community by publicizing the intellectual, scientific and cultural production.

General rules for the use of the library:

The Deanship of Library Affairs developed some general rules outlining the use of libraries in order to maintain the collections, namely:

1 – To abide by libraries opening and closing hours, and to keep an identification card while in the libraries.

2 – Entry of bags and personal equipment and inks is prohibited.

3 – To maintaining the library holdings including information sources, devices, tools and furniture, and not to tamper with them in any way.

4 – To be completely quiet, and not to enter in unauthorized areas.

5 - to refrain from smoking and eating foods and beverages.

6 - Not to transfer holdings from one room to another with the exception for the purposes of photocopying.

7 – Use of phones is prohibited for non-library staff.

8 - To abide by lending rules set by the library.

9 – library equipment are not allowed to be used for other than library, research and scientific works.

10 – It is not allowed to get out with any of the library belongings unless they borrowed or with official permission.

11 – It is not allowed to get out with any devices or equipment from the library without official permission.

12 - No photography, delivery of lectures or gatherings without official permission.
