Artistic Standard of University Theater Goes down
By Risalah

The university theatre faces obstacles and therefore its standard has been going down.
Ahmed Al-Ghamdy, vice–dean of student affairs deanship, says the theater department is an important section in student affairs deanship. It hones up skills of students and trains students on daring and meeting the attendance. It plays an important role in entertaining students. So, the university decided to withdraw it from Cultural and social activity department to us to give it more attention. The theater budget was increased against last year. Efforts were exerted to showcase some plays on the stage.
Dr. Bakr Ibrahim, former head of mass communication dept, said drama section had been closed down for long time since the figure of students desiring to join drama section was low, despite there was a professional faculty. Situation has not changed yet since theater is not a cultural heritage in the Saudi society.
Student Suleiman Aly, a sophomore, says he does not follow up any shows because of the low-standard art actors perform.
