  Inexperienced Pharmacists

Qualifying the student to labor market is the ultimate goal of every university. This goal is based upon two things; theoretical study and on-the-job training. But the practical training lasts for one month according to the past academic plan in the college of Pharmacy.

Frustrated due to the short, semester-long training, student Khalid Al-Harthy says he feels that he is not qualified to labor market due to the short-term training.

Student Faisal Al-Bagmy says herein lays the problem we take a semester-long training, after which we go for work with no real experience. The new students are much lucky; they will have training as of the second year in the new academic plan, while we take it at the last year, as per the past academic plan.

Seeking training for free, student Hasan said he had received unpaid, on-the-job training in Al-Mamlakah Hospital to hone up his career skills. Now, he feels the difference between him and other students with no training.

Blaming some brackets in the community, student Khalid Al-Harthy says some people in the community underestimate us saying that pharmacists are no more than shop sellers. The ministries of health and higher education should have a better coordination to change this view.

Student Faisal Al-Bagmy said in the Scandinavian states the pharmacists are allowed to prescribe drugs for the patients and the physicians are only entitled to diagnose the illness.

Running similitude between the pharmacist and the herbs-dealer, student Khalid Al-Harthy says he is the pharmacist's competitor. He is well-trusted in the community.

Student Faisal Al-Bagmy says according to the regulations of the ministry of health whoever opens an herb dealership must recruit a pharmacist or the dealership should be supervised by a pharmacist.  But, nobody applies this.
