Student Right Charter

      By Prof. Dr. Abdullah Al-Uthman

      KSU Rector

While taking its first steps to be a leading, pioneering university, King Saud University (KSU) should pay an undivided attention to students. It should safeguard rights of students, as leading universities do.

KSU has set up a student right unit to create an atmosphere, protecting student rights. The unit is governed by the KSU-enacted regulations. It helps dispel the misconception that students must fulfill commitments without rights guaranteeing them an easygoing life. It helps produce citizens able to serve their religion and homeland staunchly.

The unit looks into student grievances autonomously and impartially, as all universities do. And no wonder to promote the moral of rights safeguarding amongst students since this nourishes the culture of equity amongst students. It creates a better environment, in which rights and morals are observed.

KSU has issued student right charter and has enacted rules regulating the work of student right unit. It goes ahead into being an international university, treating students and staff members on equal footing. This mirrors KSU transparency and equity in the eyes of students.

I call upon all faculty members to maintain rights of students and to have a balanced character. This is already included within the context of observing the professional rights which KSU is working on issuing a charter of.
