The skills development deanship conducted a series of training sessions since it was established early this academic year. The participation by the university rectors and other leaders proved that the self-development process never stopped, said Dr. Mohammed Al-Sedairy, dean of skills development dean. It conducted a numberless sessions for the faculty members to hone up their skills in various spheres of academic life, added he.
The 1st Session for New Faculties helped the new faculty be familiarized with academic regulations and teaching methodologies in King Saud University. It was held on October 28-30, 2007, Al-Sedairy said.
In collaboration with academic assessment and accreditation department, the deanship held a quality guarantee and assessment workshop in November 2007. The workshop promoted culture of academic accreditation and assessment, he added.
An academic leadership workshop was also held on November 14th, 2007. It sharpened skills of department chairs and trained them on facing up problems, Al-Sedairy noted. Effective Curricula Art session was organized to sharpen skills of trainees to compile curricula effectively, he remarked.
The courses were made throughout the academic year. Other were as follows: major development; basics of quality management; effective university teaching; subordinate performance management; active learning; information and telecommunication technology integration into on-campus teaching; skills of assessing student performance; and dialogue and communication skills, Al-Sedairy concluded.
