Proud of Achieving my Dreams: Non-Arab Student

I am proud that I have started to achieve my dreams and objectives, says student Mahmudah Murtadha, in an interview.

Resalah: Could you talk about education in your country?

Mahmudah: It is different from Saudi Arabia’s. It lasts for six days a week and hours in higher education stage hits 36.

Resalah:  How much attention is given to Arabic in Uzbekistan?

Mahmudah: Great attention is paid to Arabic since it is the language of the Glorious Quran. Students study Arabic as a second language. Four specialized schools teach Arabic in Tashkent and one school in Margilan (Uzbek: Marg‘ilon). The figure of students learning Arabic is 26.000 students. Two universities have majors in Arabic: Tashkent University for Eastern Studies and Tashkent Islamic University.

Resalah: What was your feeling in the first day at KSU?

Mahmudah: I was proud since it was on the first day because I was on the way to achieve my objectives and dreams.

Resalah: What was the most critical situation you had here?

Mahmudah: It was on the listening and talking course. I made a presentation on my country wearing the traditional Uzbek dress. It raised the attention on my country amongst the Saudi students.

Resalah: What are you plans?

Mahmudah: I want to earn Master and PhD degrees. I am planning to be an English professor.

Resalah: Do you have Saudi friends?

Mahmudah: I have many and practice my Arabic with them. This is why; my Arabic is better off.

Resalah: A final word?

Mahmudah: I would like KSA for giving me an opportunity to learn and for what it has been doing for the Arab world.
