Lab With No Plans: Official

The central lab for science and medical studies does not have any plans for future, says Dr. Maha Daghstany, the lab director, in an interview with Resalah newspapers. 

 Resalah: Give us  a brief profile about the center.

Dr. Maha: The central lab for science and medical studies was established in 1979 G. It was run by the research center director. It is confined to chemical analyses. Now, it comprises seven units: emicroscope; chemical analysis; genetic research; tissues treatment; tissues transplanting; microorganism; biochemistry; and physics is on the way.

 Resalah: What is the lab role in developing the scientific research?

The laboratory serves the postgraduate programs; develops the scientific research via available expertise ad technology needed by students in relevant majors; and provides a research environment for faculty members.

 Resalah: What are the scientific majors supported by the lab?

The lab supports all scientific majors like physics, chemistry, zoology,  botany , pharmaceutics, and medicine.

 Resalah: What are the services the center provides on and off campus?

It offers training sessions on and off campus.

 Resalah: Is there any cooperation between you and other labs on and off campus?

A fruitful off-campus cooperation with King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology is already outstanding.  It conducts training sessions to qualify the female technicians.  An on-campus cooperation is also available with chemistry and zoology departments. They provide us with technicians to train female technicians on various equipments.

Resalah: What are the lab achievements?

Dr. Maha: Conducting researches serving the academic spheres; serving researchers from students and faculty members; holding seminars and training sessions, organizing workshops; partaking in some local and international  fairs; analyzing more than 67033 sample for postgraduate throughout the past five years; and establishing a library at the lab.

Resalah: Are there any development plans for the time being?

Dr. Maha: There are no plans for the time being since the lab is not open yet. It will be inaugurated within the few next weeks.

 Resalah: Could other students from other majors could come to the lab?

Dr. Maha: Certainly!

 Resalah: Does the lab provide other services besides sample analysis?

Dr. Maha: Yes, it offers training sessions.

 Resalah: Are there any obstacles standing agent the lab objectives?

No, there are none. We are totally backed up by Professor Dr. Fatmah Jamjoum, the university studies center directress, and Dr. Nawal Al-Arfaj. Both of them provide the lab with whatsoever the lab needs.

Resalah: A message you like to send and to whom?

A thank-you message to professor Dr. Abdullah Al-Othman, King Saud University rector, for his efforts exerted to serve the academic research. Also I would like to thank Dr. Fatmah Jamjoum and Dr. Nawal Al-Arfaj. Finally, I thank Resalah newspaper.
