The department of studies and development was established on 8/1/1394H. and since then it was given different names and did a variety of tasks. Originally it carried the name of the department of Studies and Information. In 1400H. it was renamed as the department of Studies and Organization, and was given part of the role of the department of Computer and Information System.
On 14/11/1412H. it was given the name of the department of Studies and University development. It carried this name in the 1/9/1419H. when it was renamed as the department of Studies Development and Follow up under the University Rector.
In the academic year 1420/1421H. A Vice Rector ship for Studies Development and Follow up was established and was directly responsible for this department.
In 1421H. the Rector issued 3 administrative decision in the light of which this department was divided into 3 district sub departments:-
- Studies and Development.
- Follow up.
- Statistics, Information and documenters.
In the same year the document part of the statistics, Information and Documents sub department was transferred to the Documents centre as was embodied in the administrative decision 365 dated 24/1/1424 H. and was named Statistics and Information, reporting directly to the Vice Rector for Studies, Development and Follow up.
One of the most important services of information which help this departments achieve in its role and objectives in the authorization decision, University council decisions, the University Academic council as well as Annual Reports of the many University Units.
It is to be named, however, that this department receive its data and information from a collective effort of the Deanship of Registration and Admissions, the deanship of Staff Affairs as well as for others.
The collected data helps this department to conduct various studies that reflect a true picture of the University, whether they be in the part of statistical reports as in the case of the University Annual Report of the Statistical Bulk or in the form directories as in the case of New Students directories
