Objectives

Research Chairs Program at King Saud University is geared toward achieving the following:

1- Helping promote the university and kingdom to a world-class status in research and development.

2- Disseminating the culture of research, development, innovation, and creativity in the various fields of human knowledge as well as inculcating scientific patterns of thought that would benefit the community in the long run.

3- Completing the setup of the scientific research apparatus and implementing as well as promoting it to world-class status by creating potential excellence centers at the university geared toward generating a flow of knowledge to be applied in different ways.

4- Focusing research on areas of national priority such as water desalination, nanotechnology, biotechnology, microelectronics, and information technology.

5- Promoting research and publication in Islamic and Arabic studies.

6- Optimizing investment of the university's human and advanced support resources potentials, attracting distinguished scholars in order to learn from their experiences, and investing the university foreign relations in this respect.

7- Fostering a high-caliber generation of researcher in the various scientific disciplines and giving them the opportunity for quality training at home and abroad.

8- Enriching human knowledge, stepping up the pace of research at the international level, and promoting scientific and technological productivity both qualitatively and quantitatively.

9- Adopting the experience of outstanding universities around the world with respect to enhance collaboration between the universities and the different institutions across society as well as developing partnership with them.

10- Implementing the university's role in bolstering sustainable development and national economy based on knowledge as well as scientific and technological industry in order to maximize international competitiveness.
