Academic Programs in

The College of Languages & Translation consists of the Department of European Languages & Translation and the Language Unit.

The Department of European Languages & Translation offers the BA degree in translation in two languages: English and French. The students in both programs are required to complete 175 hours of different courses in 5 years. During the first two years, both programs (English Translation & French Translation) offer a range of language skill courses. Later, different specialized courses in translation and linguistics are offered. These specialized translation courses cover various translation types like simultaneous, bilateral, consecutive, and sight translation and in various translation fields like translation in the fields of medicine, humanities, administration, politics, mass media, engineering, law, education, etc. At the end of both programs, the students are required to submit a translation project in which they translate a book or part of a book with a minimum of 25000 words.

The Language Unit does not offer academic degrees but it serves the different departments and colleges in the women campuses of King Saud University by offering the necessary general & specialized English language courses at different levels in BA & MA programs.
