COURSE DESCRIPTION

Communication Skills

140MC

Basic information:

Credited Hours          : 2 hrs.

Contact hours            : 3 hrs  (2 hrs in training class + 1 hrs self learning)

Course description:

This course deals with communication skills as a tool for achieving personal psychological and social adaptability. It is one of the key skills in the self-development department. Moreover, it focuses on the methodology that enable students to be aware of conscious communication and positive interaction with the society, to find a balance and integration in the student's personality aspects (Mentally, Physically and Emotionally). In order to achieve all of this, the communication skills curriculum will participate in:

1-      Providing the basic knowledge that students need about the communication skills vocabulary.

2-      Providing students with knowledge, skills and directions to enable them to build positive relationship with themselves and with others.

3-      Training students to apply and employ communication skills in their daily basis life to achieve success.

4-      Enabling students to use modern and developed methods and techniques that would help them implementing this skill easily and joyfully.

Course Objectives:

(140MC) aims to support students to:

1-      Verifying concepts, literatures, importance and factors of communication.

2-      Guidance by what was stated in the Islamic tradition in terms of communication methods and practices.

3-      Improving communication with inner-self and self-confidence.

4-      Working to counter communication problems with full power and competence.

5-      Using effective methods which suits different human patterns during communication.

6-      Using communication methods and practices that would develop the responsibility of the word.

7-      Improving the speaking and listening skills.

8-      Addressing, discussing, persuading and negotiating with others.

9-      Working with groups as a team.

10-  Participating in a variety of volunteer work.

11-    Writing C. V. and reports, applying experiences in career.

12-    Performing interview with confidence.

13-    Enhancing the sense of belonging of the student.

14-    Using modern technological methods positively in communication.

Activities of training in classes are comprised of the following:

  • Individual applications
  • Case study
  • Cooperative learning
  • Brain storming
  • Problem solving
  • Role play

 Course Requirements:

1-      Participation in activities inside training classes

2-      The preparation of assignments related to life applications.

3-      Attendance of self-learning hours

4-      Provision of student's products related to self learning hours

5-      Designing and implementing projects related to the course

6-      Performing both midterm and final tests
